This website is administered
and edited by NCS volunteer cartoonists.
Unfortunately, we do not have time to answer questions on non-NCS
business related matters, inquiries regarding deceased cartoonists,
or any other cartooning matters that require research. However,
the Cartoon Research Library at Ohio State University may be
able to help you - see their site at:
http://cartoons.osu.edu/
Thanks for being understanding
-- and good luck!

Art by C.F. Payne |
"This website was designed and constructed,
over a period of many months, by the Presidential offspring,
Joe and Luke McGarry. During my four years as NCS President,
they have created the opening movies that we use to open the
Reuben Awards evenings, they have helped design and operate the
AV productions we stage during the Reuben Weekend seminars and
have generally scanned and htmled way above and beyond the call
of filial duty. On behalf of everyone in the NCS, I want to thank
them for all their hard work and a series of jobs wonderfully
well done ... and promise that this is the last time we use them
as cheap child labor. When Stromoski takes over in May, he vwill
have to shamelessly exploit his own kid."

Much of the text
was adapted by the McGarrys from existing NCS material.
Thanks, in particular, go to:
BILL JANOCHA and MORT WALKER for material taken from the National
Cartoonists Society Album;
R.C. HARVEY, for his history of the early days of the NCS in
the same Album;
CHRIS BROWNE, for his advice to aspiring cartoonists.
Wherever possible, we have credited artists for their work and
acknowledged copyright and trademark holders. Our thanks to all
artists for generously allowing the NCS to use their work.
The bulk of photographs on this website were supplied by the
tireless DAVID FOLKMAN.
Older photographs were taken from the NCS archives and may well
have been supplied by the OSU Cartoon Reserach Library. Thanks
also to Jim Whiting, Ted Goff and any others whose pics we may
have purloined ... and Mrs. McGarry for allowing us to raid the
family photo album.
Thanks to BILL JANOCHA, RON EVRY and TED MARTIN for video footage
(except the bits that came from McGarry vacation videos.)
And finally, thanks to Amy Lago and WPWG for the generous site
sponsorship. |
