68th Annual National Cartoonists Society Reuben Award Ceremony

Cartooning's highest honors are given out by the National Cartoonists Society at the 68th Annual Reuben Awards, held May 24, 2014 at the Omni Hotel in San Diego, California. Among the award winners are musical parodist "Weird Al" Yankovic, who receives the NCS' Amateur Cartoonist Extraordinare award, and Bunny Hoest Carpenter and John Reiner of "The Lockhorns", who receive the Gold Key Award. The big award of the night, the Cartoonist of the Year Reuben Award, was given to Wiley Miller, creator of "Non Sequitur". The event was emceed by Tom Gammill, creator of "The Doozies".

"The Godfather Part 2" Reubens 2011

The NCS follows up 2010's "The Godfather" parody with this sequel. Featuring: Jeff (Family Circus and outgoing NCS Prez) Keane, Tom (Mad Magazine and incoming NCS president) Richmond, Melinda Keane, Anna Richmond, Tony (F Minus) Carillo, Jenny (OSU Cartoon Library) Robb and Tom (The Doozies) Gammill. This was the opening movie shown at the start of the 2011 Reuben Award night in Boston, MA.

The NCS does their take on one of the top films of all time, "The Godfather". Featuring: Stephan (Pearls Before Swine) Pastis, Jeff (Family Circus) Keane, Jerry (Baby Blues, Zits) Scott, Bill (Tank McNamara, Cleats) Hinds, Mark (Lio, Heart of the City) Tatulli, Sean (Illustrator) Parkes and Tom (The Doozies) Gammill. This was the opening movie shown at the start of the 2010 Reuben Award night in Jersey City.

"I Love LA" NCS Reubens 2009

The NCS Reuben Award weekend was held in Hollywood in 2009. As their opening movie they do their version of Randy Newman's classic "I Love LA"... Steve (Biographic, Kid City) McGarry drives around a big nasty redhead who bears an unfortunate resemblance to that year's NCS President. Additional footage is also taken from the previous years awards weekends including 2008 in New Orleans. If you know your cartoonists you may get a glimpse of some of the following: Lynn Johnston, Fred Laswell, Jack Davis, Al Jaffee, Mike Luckovich, Bunny Hoest, Bill Hinds, Jerry Scott, Rick Kirkman, Arnold Roth, David Silverman, Dan Piraro and many others.
